Neuw Denim: Spring '16 Vintage Revision
From our first booking, Still Life distinguished Neuw Denim as something special. Born in 2005, Niewlandstraat, Brussels, Par Lundgvist had a vision to start his brand founded on the concept of Vintage Revision: the process of tailoring and altering vintage pieces to modernize denim fit and function. Neuw pays homage to denim heritage by collecting the best fits, fabrics, and finishes from the last 100 years. “Respect the heritage; embrace the future” is the foundation for Neuw’s Vintage Revision.
Iconic in its own right, Neuw denim goes beyond design, fabric and fit – it embodies a unique brand identity. The Neuw ID includes a Fob Ring that hangs from the front right belt loop of every pair of Neuw jeans. Par included this in memory of a fob watch his grandfather had passed down to him, which was lost in Stockholm and all that remained was the fastening ring. You can also find the vintage revision dart on the back leg hem symbolic of the roots of Neuw; premium denim reinvented. The final Neuw ID feature is the repair stitch in replacement of the traditional deck stitch inspired by Par’s near-disintegrated jean collection that had personal repair stitches. The Neuw repair stitch became a signature “scribble” on every pair of Neuw jeans.
Neuw's SP16 line brings light blue vintage dyes and subtle distressing among the core classic Neuw styles such as the Razor Ankle Skinny, Vintage Skinny, Marilyn and Lola in 100% cotton. The staff favorite Paris Crop Jean features a full flared leg and cropped silhouette giving this retro throwback a relevant resurgence.
