Matt, Kim & Jordan returned to the Las Vegas Tradeshow circuit in February – bringing along Alex from Still Life For Her for the first time to help Kimmy with the women’s buying while Jordan & Matt focussed solely on the menswear buy. Looking ahead to FW13 the team was focussed on finding footwear, apparel & accessories that translate from around the world to our hometown of Victoria, BC.
It was another great round of shows – starting out with the smaller, but continually growing (capsule) at The Sands Expo for the first time. The bigger venue gave brands a bit more space to layout their FW13 collections and seemed to work out ideal for everyone. We were able to meet up and work collections from some of our favourite mens & womens lines ranging from Clae Shoes, Penfield & Collina Strada to new brands debuting this spring at the stores, Shipley & Halmos, Lightning Bolt, Loup & Dusen Dusen.
Project Show combined with ENKVegas this year to showcase a massive variety of streetwear and urban lifestyle brands alongside some classic Still Life For Him & For Her brands we love so much. Meeting up with the crew from Fjallraven we loved all the amazing new FW13 Numbers Bags and noted more knitwear/shirting/outerwear from the Swedish outdoor brand than ever before – get excited! The huge show also played host to the amazing Contego Eyewear, Bridge & Burn; and our Dr Martens selections for fall took some time to sort through with so many amazing menswear & womenswear footwear options for both stores! Welcoming the additional brands meant setting up a beautiful new space called The Tents outside of the Mandalay Bay Convention Center that typically hosts the show. In The Tents we met up with Zac & the Nudie Jeans team, noted beautiful new menswear shoe styles from Thorocraft (returning this spring) and hung out with the team from The West Is Dead while we noted styles from their strong FW13 collections.
All in all a tremendous round of shows and a great little five day stay in Vegas. The (capsule) after party in Old Vegas at The Griffin (our personal favourite spot) wasn’t quite as bananas as previous years, although Alex & Jordan claim to have lost Josh & Matty from Victory Barbers sometime after midnight and curiously haven’t seen them since…
